The Challenge
Following a visit and research phase, the brief was to identify opportunities for improvement within the Cinemateca’s existing communication and propose a renewed visual identity. The challenge was to preserve the institution’s historical weight while making it feel more accessible and engaging for new generations of film enthusiasts.
The Approach
Extended research revealed an opportunity to highlight cinema’s tactile and emotional qualities. Inspired by the nostalgic yet contemporary atmosphere found in Wes Anderson’s films, I developed a visual system rooted in collage.Collage became the core language of the identity, layering archival imagery, textures, and graphic elements to evoke film history while introducing rhythm and playfulness. The new logo and color system support this approach, allowing flexibility across formats while maintaining coherence. The result is an identity that feels culturally rich, but not outdated, expressive, yet structured.

The Application
The system was applied across posters, stationery, business cards, website layouts, and social media assets. Each touchpoint reinforces the balance between nostalgia and modernity, demonstrating how the identity adapts while preserving its core language.
The Outcome
This project strengthened my ability to conduct research-driven rebranding and translate insights into a cohesive visual system. It also allowed me to integrate hand-drawn and sketch-based elements into a cultural identity framework, blending historical sensitivity with contemporary expression. The proposed rebrand positions the Cinemateca as a space that honors film heritage while remaining vibrant, flexible, and welcoming to new audiences.
